Happy New Year!

Get ready for an exciting new year. 2008 is going to be an adventure in stitching for NAGT.

Irene Leonard, Program Chair has started a Stitch of the Month Club this year. Each month we will explore the history of a basic stitch.  Everyone will have the chance to work on the stitch at the meeting or at home, learn about how the stitch is used in needlework and the variations, if any, of the stitch.  At our January meeting we explored the chain stitch.  In February we will work on the herringbone stitch.  At the end of the year we all hope to make "Cloth Books" which will tell the story of our stitching year!

Other opportunities to stitch together will be the Hearts project from EGA. Several members are planning to work on this pattern and to adapt the design to other shapes besides hearts.  Purchase of this booklet supports EGA and the American Heart Association.

Su Pellitieri, Newsletter Editor extraordinaire, has offered to lead a Group Correspondence Course with the project Moonlight Sonata by Cindy Valentine.  Even if you are not an expert or have not tried hardanger, there are a lot of excellent stitchers waiting to help you out. Maybe some of us can get some older GCCs out and finish them with this encouragement! There will be regular meetings to work on the Sonata, so get your calendars out and mark down the dates at the next guild meeting.
